Greets all, I've just been lurking around trying to see if something is possible. I've got a 97 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 and I'm just pondering if it would be possible to use an OBDII to bluetooth adapter and a laptop to do basically a piggy back tune from the diagnostic port.

I'm considering building a stroker motor for my Jeep and it would be nice to have some extra tuning settings. Plus I'd love to be able to have several tunes I could load. Say one for fuel efficiency for DD, and maybe one for torque for offroading.

Does this sound possible?

Welcome to the site!

The problem is loading the tune to the chip in the PCM is done through the ALDL port at very specific places and voltages. If it is even possible on a Jeep ECM. The GM ECM/PCMs are all re-writable and have been figured out.

I have seen some Bluetooh OBDII readers for codes but they are childs play compared to a real Scan Tool.

If you want to explore further start a thread in GM section or GearHead section and we can explore some possibilities of a piggyback tuner, replacing your PCM with a GM or even megasquirt.
