Has anyone used TC to remove the VATS on the e38 ECM's? I have a friend doing a swap using an engine from a 2012 Silverado, I have the files to use tunercat to flash it for him to save buying a license for my efilive but I havent really done much with the e38's other than disable the afm. I noticed in efilive there's a VATS patch and all I see in tunercat are the VATS disable check boxes. I clicked those and reflashed it for him. is that all thats needed?
Thanks

In case anyone needs it in the future here is a step by step.

1. Run the OBDII Tuner program and open the cal file for this truck.

2. Click on the 'Files' menu and select 'Code Patches' from the drop-down menu.

3. On the Code Patches screen the 'VATS Disable' patch should be the only one list and it should be highlighted so just click on the 'Apply' button. The box next to
the VATS Disable patch should turn red to signify that the patch has been applied. Click on the 'Exit' button to close this screen.

4. Click on the 'Switches' menu and select 'Calibration Options' from the drop-down list. Uncheck the following switches:

VATS Enable
VATS Auto Learn Enable
Theft Relearn Password
VATS Required to Run
VATS Fail Enable Mode
Clutch Interlock Enable (Manual Trans)

5. Click on the 'Switches' menu and select 'Diagnostics' from the drop-down list. Uncheck the following:

VATS Password Fail Diagnostic
Starter Relay Diagnostic Enable

6. Click on the 'Constants' menu and select 'System Parameters' and set 'VATS Type' to 2.

6. Click on the 'Diagnostics' menu and select 'Auxiliary Input Diagnostics' from the drop-down list.

7. Scroll down the list and locate the following diagnostics:

Theft Deterrent Sys. Crank Signal (P1629)
VATS Fuel Enable Circuit (P1630)
VATS Learn Mode Active (P1631)
VATS Fuel Disable Signal (P1632)
VATS - Wrong Security Code (P1648)
VATS - No Key/Code Programmed (P1649)

8. If they aren't already, set all these diagnostics so that they are unchecked and set to 'No Error Reporting (Type X).

9. Go to the 'Auxiliary Output Diagnostics' section of the diagnostics and locate the

Immobilizer Key Not Programmed (P0633)

10. Set this diagnostic so that it is unchecked and set to 'No Error Reporting (Type X).

11. Note: When programming the ECM for the first time after applying the VATS Disable code patch you must select the 'Force Full Program' option from the 'Setup' menu of the WinFlash OBDII program.
