This is in ref to $OE and 7427/6395. I am wanting to know what actually triggers limp mode. If you unchecked all the cel fail codes that refer to the transmission would the trans go into limp when parameters were met or because the cel wasn't triggered would it not go into limp. In other words is the final trigger of limp from parameters or the cel codes.

By disabling the dtc's, it should disable flags pertaining to the components you "removed", which means no limp mode.

Limp mode will be enabled if a short to ground/voltage is found on any solenoid circuit.

There is no default limp mode. Different failures cause different responses responses from the PCM.

Disabling the code can't fix hardware issues. For example, if shift solenoid A fails then you won't get 1st or 4th gear. Deleting the code for the shift solenoid won't fix it.
