Importing Data Dash Data......

[Nasty-Z]

Like the title says , I have a Data dash layout I use for $OE tuning with the layout I like and most of the gauges as I want them, is there any way to import that dash into the latest $OD datastream so I don't have to re configure everything ?

I think you'll have to do a cut and paste job within the dashboard code. I can't recall at the moment what the file is, but the file contains clear text parameters for each dashboard configuration. You'd have to cut and paste the locations and indicator info. The parameters for what output each "gauge" displays would obviously be different, however.

Although it's not supported by Mark, you can open the ADX as a TXT file, highlight the dashboard that you want toove to the new ADX, copy, and then paste into the new ADX, save.

You're not done yet though, you then need to open the ADX in TP RT V5, right click on the gauges that don't have proper assigned values, and incorrect values, selecting the proper items from the menu that comes up, save again, now you're good to go.

Like the guys said yes you can, I do it all the time. The ADX code is very simalr to HTML with start and end tags each with it's own name. Look at the spacing between each item and keep it that way. After you add a few things it may crash when opened in TunerPro, you have to raise Object Count up near top first few lines.

Raise it even higher then what you add and when you save the ADX file again in TP it will correct the amount, but sometimes if there is more items the object count it will crash.

Another thing I do is leave the header type info at top of course, then commands to connect with data, then all the values and bitmasks, then coolant lookup tables, then monitors list veiws and dashboards at bottom.

If you ever add a bunch of stuff like all those dashboards or combining items from 2 adx and open the adx and it crashes TP? Then increase object count, to much is OK when you save the adx it will correct the object count.

One thing that seems to crash TP when doing this by txt is monitors? I've had no luck cut and pasting them in?

The windows notepad is rather limited. There are better applications for editing ADX files.

I suggest notepad++ as a free replacement. It's easier to use than reading the web page!

I had issues with both years ago with adding spaces when I was doing cgi work, so I bought Edit Pad for $20 and it has been flawless and has search, find and replace options for one document or all open documents etc... been a good webmaster tool.

Don't think the ADX or XDF files are that sensitive to an extra space, line break etc... as scripts...

I've been able to copy & paste monitor definitions into an adx file.

Method:
1) I create a blank monitor in the adx file that I want to import into.

2) I leave the these lines alone.

There the start monitor & end monitor tags. I'm leery of the idhash field. It's auto generated & needs to be unique I assume & I think based on the id field.

3) I paste in the other tags between the head and end tags of the other adx file.

There is the itemidhash field. It needs to match an idhash field in ADXVALUE tag in the file.

I went in and change an itemidhash field to an idhash that doesn't exit. TurnerPro RT ignored the line. ( It seemed to make a small do in the graph label where some words used to be. )

All my files are decedents of the same ads file.

I take them from one ADX and add them to others I help people work on so there's always a chance the "idhash="0xAA13D1B9" could be duplicated and possibly cause a crash.

I had a feeling it was the lines installed in the monitors. I like this set of 3 monitors, 3 or 4 items in each monitor
one for vital signs like Batt, Coolant, MPH and PRM
one for tuning data like INT, BLM, MAP, knock
one for sensor data like TPS%, IAC, O2 sensor

So I opened my $42 adx and right click and removed all the items in each monitor. Saved as another file name so I did not mess up my usable file. Opened it in Edit Pad and copied the monitors, opened $61 which I never worked on, added the monitors, added the dashbords, increased the object count to 100 although it was 68 and I added 9 and should be 76 but I took out old import monitor and import dashboard so it should be 74 and opened it in TunerPro with no problems. Just have to right click on each dashboard item to choose it's purpose and right click on monitor to choose it's purpose. Saved file and sure enough item count was 74.

Here's the monitors if anyone wants to use them.

I wish there was a way to change the dash scale so different size screens will look the same at different resolutions.
the gauges can be egg shaped on some displays.
Maybe I should post that on the TP forum too.

Yeah that would be nice, they really don't look right unless all the way open or F8 to full screen.
