Anyone up on a Hyundai Sonata (2002)

I'm in NY and my daughter is in Florida, she has a 2002 Hyundai Sonata that apparently has an intermittent VATS problem. The previous owner fitted it with an after market key fob. If she doesn't use the fob and unlocks the doors with the key it starts regularly...but occasionally the vats still kicks in.

Would like to look into have the VATS disabled and was wondering if any of you folks have experience with the Hyundai VATS? Is this a common flash, is the VATS it in the PCM or BCM in the Hyundai?
