This is probably a silly question, but is there a "demo" version of TunerCat where one could try it out? I know that the other packages allow you to download a copy of their software to play with to see if you like it before you buy it. Didn't know if TunerCat had anything similar.

you can demo the software to see if you like the software itself (which you probably will, it works just fine) but the author charges for his definition files, meaning the demo software is useless for actual tuning unless you buy the def file appropriate for what you're tuning.

Thanks for the reply. One other quick question, do you know if TunerCat can read *.bin files, or does it only read in *.cal files?

Are you asking about OBDI or OBDII Tunercat? OBDII is no longer sold separately.

I was hoping for OBD II. I saw on the TunerCat website, that you could download the software. I was hoping that I could then simply purchase a definition file (2000+ LS files) and use it. Maybe it's not that simple?

You can't have TC as a demo because the way the licensing works. You need a working definition to open/view the files however the definitions enables you to edit/save.

If you want to play with the software and be able to view calibration files, get a copy of Jet DST software, it's the same as TC and has all available definitions built in. Jet has the licensing built to the flash program so you can use it as a demo.

Do you know if the Jet DST software only works with *.cal files? or can it open *.bin files too?

Tunercat works with cal. files, Jet works with jcl files and both work with bin files

DST opens both CAL and JCl files but only saves as JCL. TC only opens and saves as .CAL, this is to prevent somebody with a TC cable editing files with Jet DST then flashing with Winflash.
Both programs open .bin files but can only save in their proprietary format (CAL and JCL).
