Hi everyone. I'm new on the forum and to tunerpro V5. I need help tuning my car. 1990 C4 corvette six speed, 350 chevy, IK180 heads, pro-flo intake manifold, cam, headers and dual exhaust. 32lb/hr fuel injectors. I think stock L98 had 22 or 24lb/hr. I'm using Moates Ostrich2, Burn2 and AEM UEGO wideband O2 with tunerpro V5 I haven't started the car yet since it's rebuild. I'm going to do that tomorrow. I expect it to run very rich. So my main objective is to adjust for these new fuel injectors. for some reason I do not see any fuel or VE table in tunerpro or anywhere to input injector size. I also need to know how to convert Super_8dm2.ecu to a XDF file. That is that same as the $8D mask both found on tunerpros site correct? Moates told me I need that for my car. VATS, what is it and why would I disable it? Finally I need to disable EGR as it has been removed from the car.

Really? nobody can help? Tunerpro will not recognize Moates Ostrich or Burn2 when I click Initialize Emulation Hardware. Drivers and settings are set correctly for the hardware.

Does a USB serial port show up in device manager when you plug the Burn2 or Ostrich in? I run XP or XP in a virtual machine when tuning and both work fine. Make sure the hardware is recognized by the OS first. Use the drivers from Moates' site. Report back what you see or do a screengrab and post in this thread.

I'm using windows 7. When I plug them in they appear as com ports Ostrich is on port 4 Latency set to 1 and burn2 is on port 5. Drivers are correct

Finally I need to disable EGR as it has been removed from the car.Would encourage you to use S_AUJP v5 found here: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?4170-1227727-1227730-1227749-v-S_AUJP Instructions are complete and straightforward, and working XDF and ADX files are provided.S_AUJP v5 is the latest version of $8d. It also contains the ability to report raw WBo2 voltage or AFR for 7 commonly used sensors (AEM is one of them). No WB support prior to S_AUJPAlso, regarding EGR disable: EGR is disabled by setting the Switch L824A (0x24A) b3=0 to bypass EGR Diagnostics. This bit is ON (=1) in all AUJP Calibrations prior to S_AUJP, but is OFF (=0) in S_AUJP. The S_AUJP v5 Calibration also has L82B0 =0xFF which bypasses In-Gear EGR If MAT < 255 Counts =approx 246*F). There is no EGR activity if in P/N.Can't help with Ostrich or Burn2 as I use AutoProm (much simpler). Apologies for no paragraphs, but the site appears to now be ignoring carriage returns. HTH.

I opened Tunerpro RT then clicked 'HELP' and 'check internet for updates' updated Tunerpro RT. Now it's fixed :-) So I opened Scalars and input cylinder number, cylinder volume, injector flow rate stock 22lb/hr changed to new 32lb/hr. Is that all I need to do? What are injector pulse width tables doing? they are located under VE tables, labeled 'injector pulse width correction vs battery voltage' and another 'injector pulse width low offset vs base pulse width'. how do I get cell trace to work so I can see what cell is currently active?

do you have any details or data sheets on the injectors you're using?

the injector offset values are usually filled in from injector data sheets, they are to compensate for how long it takes an injector to open under various conditions. (for example an injector opens more slowly with less voltage applied to it) they mostly affect low airflow operation but setting them correctly definitely stabilize your engine if you set them correctly. configuring them without a proper injector data sheet is really bitchy.

each item requires linking. a good xdf and adx set will probably already have some links set up, otherwise you have to do it manually.

in the DA Assoc. tab in the item editor, you can associate the x and y axis with your loaded adx. those links will stick, but if you change adx files they can break, so it's best to start making the links with the adx you plan to use in the future.. (pick a good one)

then 'toggle data tracing' in the acquisition menu.

having tracing in most 2d tables isn't too helpful, you can usually just eyeball the log for those, but you will find in stuff like ve and timing tables, being able to watch cell selection during actual driving events is really nice for finding problem areas.

Wow. that's really sad that I can't just flip a switch and have cell trace work. Cell trace and instant uploading is the whole reason I chose Moates Ostrich and Tunerpro. I guess I should have chosen Megasquirt or something else. Anyways, my fuel injectors are rebuilt flow matched set of 32lb/hr Bosch design III that I bought from Fuel Injector Connection (FIC). I do not have data sheets so I emailed FIC today to try to get them.

I don't understand how to get cell trace to work. I've toggled cell trace before and it was not working. I don't see item editor anywhere. I really need cell trace to work, I hope it is not too complicated.

the XDF and ADX files are built by volunteers in a community effort, that's why the definitions and tunerpro are free kit... so if the DA associations aren't already set up, it's because nobody has donated the time into making it happen for your particular mask.

tunerpro is an editor, not tuning software, it requires definition files to do things like bin editing, logging, and data tracing.

so yeah, the guy that wrote your ADX and XDF must be a real dink! really sad effort indeed ... why don't you email him and complain?

wait, i'll save you the trouble. enclosed in this post is a refund cupon for the money you spent on the definition file you are not satisfied with.

...if the cupon looks invisible it's because it's really small

ok, sarcasm mode off.

it's easy to learn to use tunerpro, though. lets get to it!

I don't see item editor anywhere.

1. right click the parameter in the list
2. 'edit parameter xdf info'

or method two

1. highlight the parameter in the list
2. smack 'F2'

from there go to the DA ASSOC tab and create explicit links to your ADX as per my earlier post

good idea, i'm sure those guys can get a data sheet for you. the offsets would be nice to get correct before you tune as it'll throw stuff off a bit. you'll likely find that the columns don't match up, the data sheet might be for 10.5v, 10.8v, 11v, 11.8v but your ecm might be 10v, 11v, 12v or something. here's a cubic spline tool that'll help you transpose the offset table values in the data sheet to match the ECM's rows: http://www.akiti.ca/CubicSpline.html

FIC sent me the data Did I us this cubic spline tool correctly? Here's what I got. In the known data box is injector offset at XX.X battery voltage. in the X boxes on the left under Points at which Interpolant Sought is the voltage tunerpro wants and the right Y boxes are the calculated results for my new injector offsets at those voltages.

no, you didn't use it correctly (it's backwards)

your input needs to be:
voltage ms
voltage ms
voltage ms
(with voltage increasing)

your output needs to be
voltage
voltage
voltage
(with voltage increasing)

I'm trying to get cell tracing to work. In XDF head editor under DA Assoc. I clicked browse to associate with the ADX I am using but does not show it as an option even if I click 'all files'. So I went the normal route to see if it was still there, I went to START, DOCUMENTS and my ADX is there. Why is this happening?

that picture you posted are the stock values, right?

no idea? it works for me? afaik you don't even need to do that for data tracing to work properly; when i was playing with it, i never had anything in that field.

I still can't get cell trace to work. I matched X and Y and adjusted settings for Engine Speed, RPMs, MAP and Kilopascal, then toggle Data Tracing. I matched XDF info to ADX also. Still does not work.

right now I'm trying to tune the car very broadly highlighting multiple cells at once and changing the values in the VE table. It's not working out too well. it seems even though I'm making very big changes in the table by 20 or 30 at a time I am not seeing my air fuel ratios come down. right now it is running very lean when I step on the throttle.

I got Cell Trace working sort of. I followed these instructions here http://forum.tunerpro.net/viewtopic.php?t=2674 But it is REALLY SLOW. So slow it's useless. The active cell is highlighted in yellow. it's bounces around all over the place and does not seem to be accurate. RPM and KPA it sits in sometimes is completely wrong. and it sits there for several minutes until it moves to some other extreme.

Cell trace still not working... Got my ALDU1 datalogger from moates I setup the com ports and tested it in tunerpro with success but it doesn't work. No information coming onto the TunerproRT dash and it still says DA not connected. I highlighted everything from 60kpa and under and removed -40 from the VE table and it did nothing to lean out the rich idle and light throttle cruise. I played with Startup Enrichment vs Temp and it did nothing. It does not specify coolant temp or air temp so who knows what that means? I also tried adjusting Open Loop % Change vs Temp but it also did nothing and does not specify where it gets temp from.

I'm thinking of just selling this car. I should have set it up with a carburetor from the start.
