16197427 ECM from 5.7 with 4l60e to V6 4.3 stand alone tranny.

Hi,

My name is Waldo , i write form Santiago of Chile, I study about GM TBI fuel inyection , I like to swap from my rochester monojet to TBI injection in my GM Six Inline 250CI.

Here in Chile is not easy to find a harness ECM and Throttle body from a older engine.

A friend sale me a Harness with sensors, Throttle Body and ECM (16197427 BJLH) FROM A V8 5.7 with 4l60E tranny.

I try to learn about memcal, and I need to ask :


It is possible and easy to remove the memcal from V8 5.7 engine, erase and burn a *bin from V6 4.3 TBI with mechanical tranny to convert this ECM from v8 to v6 ? or Its a real pain to do this?

You will need a TBI V6 Memcal from a 16197427 ECM. Inside the Memcal is the "Cylinder Select" setting that tells the computer the engine is a V6 or V8.

I recommend installing a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) when using the 16197427 ECM.

Dave, Thanks for your answer , my configuration is very special , I have a Chevy Nova 2 door 1977 with 3 speed saginaw, floor console, for the vss I try to create a gps module who send the correct pulses to ECM.

In other case I can put a 4l60E tranny....I really love automatic transmission.

About the memcal, It is possible to burn a memcal with v6 tbi configuration, and put in the ECM? or I need to buy from any site this memcal?

For the ECM controled advance I pretend to put in the original HEI distributor a standard lx315 module ( 7 pin) and remove the mechanical advance, this confiuration its very important to me because I have some issue with the mechanical advance today.

Well,

Today I buy a harness, throttle body and ECM for my project, Its come from a 94/95 c1500 truck, 16197427 JBHL from a V8 5.7 and 4l60e tranny.

I know I need a new rom or maybe reflash the existing rom, I need to study and read more to know how I can transfor my ECM from V8 to V6.

I presusme I need a lot of time to finish this idea, tomorow I can upload a picture from my KIT.
