I have ecu 16146299 with the reddevilriver bluetooth connector. I'm using 99.adx that I had found on another thread. When I connect to the ecu I do not have any readings on aldldroid and the truck starts dumping fuel and missing. I very read another thread where the the device was in diagnostic mode, but I do not know how to disable that setting. How could I turn it off if that's the issue or what adx file would I use if that's the wrong one? It's in a 1992 chevy z71 with a 700r4.

Another user had a similar issue with a RDR adapter. A quick fix is to back the ALDL "B" pin out of the connector under the dash. This will disable the 10K ALDL mode of the adapter. Tape the pin and leave it out of the connector when using the adapter.
Hope this helps.

It stopped my idle problem but I'm not getting any readingss because it's saying it's "not synced with ecm data stream".

There usually are only two pins needed for a data connection. Ground and Serial data. The 299 ecm is a lot like the 7747 ecm. The data is sent at approximately 1.2 second intervals on the serial data pin in the ALDL plug. I have not used ALDLdroid but some other users here on the forum have. I will look at the configuration options for it in a bit and see if I can help you get connected.

There are no instructions I can find on the net for the RDR adapter. If you have the adapter connected to your android device with bluetooth and the proper device selected in ALDLDroid, it should work. Does the bluetooth adapter have any LED's on it that may show data coming into it? ( ex. a blink every 1.2 seconds) You may have to contact Red Devil River and see if there is anything special that has to be configured for the older 160 baud systems.

I seem to remember having a difficult time finding the proper definition to get it to work with my '7747. You might want to try out a $42 definition. I've used them before on the '299 with some success. If you still can't get it to work, let me know and I'll try to find time to pull out mine and hook it up to a '299 and see what happens.
