Hello

For the moment I have a complete TPI system from a 89 Firebird that can go on my 383 chev, but I am thinking of maybe going in the TBI direction.

My question is: if there is a year/model of TBI that is more tuner friendly then others? I have a friend in the scrapper business, so he could help me source parts if I knew what year /model / ecm to look for. I am already on the look out for a 454 throttle body.

any suggestions? keeping in mind I will be starting from zero equipment wise. Is there a sticky on the subject that I didn't see?

Thank you

If I were to go TBI, I'd use the '94 to '95 TBI PCM 16197427 (There's a couple other numbers that I can't recall off the top of my head).

They were used in electronically controlled automatic applications but can be used in non electronic automatic and manual trans applications when set up properly. Some codes even support MPFI, if you decided you wanted to go that route later.

Thanks guys!
Is the ecm "'94 to '95 TBI PCM 1227427" from, lets say, a GM 1500 or a 2500 series pick up?, I am going to see what I can find - sounds exactly what I need.

Thanks again

Sorry, I had the first part of the number wrong... It's 16197427.

But yes, 1500s have the PCM, some 2500s as well.
