Hey Guys, Newby here.

I've been watching the site for awhile now and I have a project I am working on. I wanted to see if some one could point me in the right direction.

Project:
1983 Chevy G20, Stock 305, 700r4, Quadrajet.

End goal: +3/5 MPG, Better starting and a cleaner engine bay

My question is in reference to the ECMs. While in the Junk yard today, the only ECM for a 5.0 (Vin H) was a 16197427 (BJYB) 93' Chevy 5.0, 4l60E.

My Question is, using Tuner pro, can I make this ECM work for me?

Other things I pulled were.

93 Chevy 1500
TBI, Distributor, wiring harness, MAP sensor, relays, ESC

96 Chevy G20
Fuel pump and sending unit, Distributor with EST

Still Need to get a O2 sensor/ w bung, Water Temp Sensor, Air Temp sensor and EGR Solenoid sensor.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!

The ecm will work fine. It sounds like you're aware of the sensors you'll need. I'm sure you can get a wiring harness if you don't have one already.

The chip inside, which you will be working with if you use Tunerpro, is what determines what size engine the ecm works with. A three to five mpg increase could be substantial. While I like EFI, the factory systems are programmed for emissions control and often need some tweaking to go for maximum economy. The amount of improvement you might see is based on many factors. Some of them are how stock the engine and vehicle is, how much weight it regularly hauls, and how much time you want to spend tuning.
