Is this ecm 160 or 8192?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this system yet. Just bought this 91 Riviera two weeks ago and just received a shop manual yesterday. It's pretty darn thorough and is about a 1000 pages.

Hit the scrapyard today and picked up some parts from the one and only riviera they had there and decided to grab the instrument cluster. It's pretty slick being all digital VFD. It's uses the serial data to translate everything based on the pinout and wiring diagram.

I was kind of wondering if it would interface with the 1227747 ecm serial data in my truck.

Are you sure the instrument cluster uses the serial data? In a '90 S-10 with digital dash, it gets readings directly from the sending units. I used the same wiring when I replaced everything with AutoMeter gauges.

Yes, this unit is different from the S10 clusters.

I may have to stick with using the S10 cluster, but this one is pretty nice and the only input for the speed, rpm, oil pressure, temp, voltage and fuel is via the serial data line. I've found out that you can get into diagnostics mode to see live data from the ECM and the BCM for this car. That data is displayed real time in the odometer position.

If that's the case, it won't work very well (if at all) with the '7747. It doesn't have inputs or output for fuel gauge or oil pressure.

Yeah, the serial data from the 7747 doesn't feed it.

I have verified the cluster does work, so it's a good spare for the car though.

Will have to keep a look out for an s10 with the digital cluster.

I actually have an instrument cluster in working condition. If you want it, make me an offer.
