Thanks for the add! I have a question for all of you and in desperate need of some good advice. I am not too knowledgable in the wiring phase so all help is appreated. So down to the questions....I have a 1992 c1500 Chevy short box reg cab with a 350 engine and 4L60 transmission. I have currently purchased a 1995 454 and a 4L80e transmission which is going in the 91 truck. The ecm that is currently in the 91' is a 16146299R and will not run the transmission of the 4l80e. So I have two other ecm one is 16147060 and the other is a 1227747. Which one would be the better of the two?

Right now you probably have what is better known as a 700R4, the last year or so they did call it a 4L60, but it's not the same a a 4L60E. A 16197427 would be more appropriate for the '95 and is a better ECM to run than the '7060. The '7747 and '299 you have are basically interchangeable and the '7060 is meant for '91-93 4L80Es with a different force motor. Did you get the harness with the new motor and trans?

Out of what you have to keep things simple, the '7060 would the ECM to go with.

As stated, the '299 and '7747 are pin for pin compatible, so both ECMs are out for your intended swap.

The engine harness that came with the 95 motor is of basically no use. When salvage yard pulled the motor out of a G30 the chopped the wires that go to the fuse box. Yes very typical. The 4L80E trans I purchased separately and included a wiring harness and the 7060 ecm and engine/trans harness. But what I am finding out ist that the pin is different that the original 299 ecm anc so are the engine sensor connections/sensors compared to the 91. So not sure how I need to resolve this issue and with what ecm. I think I need to keep the original harness from th e 91 and add the 4L80 wiring to it. But without the correct ecm, I don't know where to start with a pin out. I'm not worried about having ITE ecm sent out for programming because I will need that done anyway with the already completed mods.

Use the harness I sent you for the '80E wiring , although if you have the transmission rebuilt before using they might put a different connector on the case than what is on the harness , the transmission shop should have the updated end for the truck side.

I would get a pinout for the '7747 (6299) and the pinout for the '7060, both on this site , and merge the two so as to use the '7060 I sent with your package.

Well hey Tom!!! I'm sitting here smiling because no matter what site I ask questions on, your always there to help. I just hate bothering you ALL the time about stupid questions. So trying to expand and give you a breather!! Lol. But I wouldn't rather have anyone helping me through this then you since you know the build already. So when you say merge, are you saying to use both ecms together on this build? And if so, which am ecm am I using to control what part of the wiring? And am I going to need both ecms chips burnt? I will start searching for the wire diagrams.

Use the '7060 for the PCM , you will only need to use the '7060 as it will control it all. You will need a pinout from your ECM that is in the truck now 1227747 ('6299) as you will need to transfer the wires from the plugs in the truck now to the '7060 plugs as well as add the '80E wiring .

Best bet is to use a pinout for both computers , and make a crossover chart in Excel . That way before any wire is moved , you have a record of where it came from in the old computer and where it is going on the new one.

Hope this helps

Wouldn't it be easier to just swap the complete '7060 harness in? And yes, it does sound like the '7060 is the right way to go. I didn't realize that the transmission wasn't original to the '95 engine.

It sounds like he doesn't have the complete '7060 harness, but yes, that would be the easier way to go.
