View Full Version : Making History Tables in TunerPro

If your into tuning one of the things you need is good data. This is one way that' works great. It's a history table available in the adx file for TunerPro.

If your adx does not have one don't worry just build one! Here's how!

First open TunerPro and load your Bin, XDF and ADX or import your ads. For this one I am using BCC/bin AZTY for $88.

In your bin open the VE fueling table.

There are 3 VE I see in this one.
1. Main Volumetric Efficiency Vs. RPM Vs. MAP
2. Idle Volumetric Efficiency Vs. RPM Vs. MAP
3. Volumetric Efficiency Adder Vs. RPM

Some guys do away with the adder and add it into the main table but I never have because I'm not sure exactly how it works at RPM off VE scale.
Like this VE main goes to 4000 RPM but the adder goes to 6400 RPM! Point is I have always ignored it and worked the main table and it works fine.

Also on some like $42, if you add the adder to Main table you end up with over 100% which makes the injector go static and causes problems.

Idle VE table is for just that! Idle! Depending on how the ECM parameters are set it usually needs several contingencies met to enter that mode.

For this How Too! We are going to build a History Table for the main VE table. This is where you will be doing most of your tuning anyway, I think if your in gear it is not idle and these 2 tables Idle VE and Main VE overlap. If not? Well at the end you'll know how to build one for Idle Table!

So we are here with main VE table open, this is so we know how to build the history table. Need rows and columns and values of each.

http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1241&d=1324703506

Now we start to build the History Table. Go to Acquisition, Edit Definition:
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1231&d=1324703491

Click on History Table then down below Add New Item:
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1233&d=1324703494

This box will open.
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1232&d=1324703492

We need to give it a name, unique ID and change the count to 100:
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1238&d=1324703501

Then we can add the Output Z object by clicking the button on right side.
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1234&d=1324703495

The Z output is BLM or Block Learn Mode which comes from the next X axis row and Y axis column steps. Click on it and OK
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1248&d=1324703517

Now click on Rows tab at bottom (look up at picture Rows Y Axis) of History Table box to open. This is where we need exact amount of rows from VE Main table to enter in Row Count. Count rows above arrow/pointer = 13
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1245&d=1324703512

Now you have 13 rows and have to give them each a value, here we are going to use the MAP kpa from 20 to 100.
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1246&d=1324703514

Then click on the Row Y Object button and choose MAP, or MAP kpa but not MAP Volts.
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1244&d=1324703511

Now we move on to Columns X axis tab and repeat, count the rows from Main VE, give each one a value from Main VE table and choose Engine Speed or RPM for Column X object.
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1242&d=1324703507

Click Save and your done! To see your work go to Acquisition, Show history Table
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1240&d=1324703504

Or the easy way and click on Data History Tables Button.
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1239&d=1324703502

And Viola! here's your BLM History Table! Check to see rows and columns are same values as Main VE table!
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/attachment.php?attachmentid=1235&d=1324703497

Now when you are connected to vehicle it will populate the cells used. Click record data while your driving around to save the data log and you can always play it back and the table will populate itself again! Now you have the information you need to adjust VE main table and get fueling adjustments needed.

Happy Tuning!

Since you were asking about $88 I looked and it did not have one. So I used it as an example. The $88.adx with the built BLM history table is in the $88 info thread:

EDIT: Thread split to:

If I keep finding these well written articles, there might be some efi calibrating in my future.
Thanks Eagle Mark !

I've been wondering why the History Sample is set to 100 in this write up? In my library of .adx files I see some of the History Sample are 10 or 100. I set up a $99 .adx and was wondering what I should set the History Sample to?

I think when you make the table it comes up with 10 samples. I change them to 100. How many samples do you want for a data log? 10 or 100?

When looking at the history table the View drop down menu will show History Sample Count. After a log you want to get rid of any cells with 1 or very low counts.

Ah-ha! This is awesome. Thanks.

Finally got a chance to play with this last night. Very cool. Should I lock my INT while doing this though to keep the reading more accurate? Is the BLM fast enough to make fueling changes while INT is locked?

Ah! No! If INT does not move neither will BLM. It's be like Open Loop and all the same numbers...

Ok, I was afraid of that. So the INT can skew the BLM a little bit in the readings. But it's still a good tool to get it pretty close.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I was wondering why I had no history tables. Thank You!

I'm trying to set up a history table for my VE tuning. I've got
ARJT BIN
XDF $42-1227747-V5.9.3
ADX $42-1227747-V3T
When I get to the step to click on the Output Z, My browser box is empty. What do I have to do to populate this box?

What about exporting tunerpro data to a csv and running it through steveo’s trimalazyer from fbodytech?

Yeah very helpful information but is it all up to date though?
