Hey everyone. REally enjoying the site and I'm stoked to be starting an efi conversion on a chevy engine. I'm looking at either a built 350 or 383.

I've read some articles saying "the 7747 isn't good". I've also read "its hard to tune".

Here's some questions.

Can the 7747 run a more powerful engine than it was originally designed to run?
Can I run a built up 350 with up to 400 hp?

Are there any books on tuning that the members here would recommend?
the forums are tough to learn.

Do guys just download tuner cats or tuner pro and get the gear from moates and dive in?
i want the swap to be successful... Thanks for reading.

:welcome:

The '7747 is a good TBI computer, the 16197427 is a better TBI computer. Usually, someone who is starting to learn TBI, the '7747 is a "GOOD" computer to learn with! Usually, for someone starting to learn, tuning a mild performance or performance engine can be more challenging. Learning with a stock or near stock engine is less challenging.

A couple books to look at for tuning:
Designing and Tuning High-Performance Fuel Injection Systems by Greg Banish
Engine Management: Advanced Tuning by Greg Banish

I use TunerPro RT for both data logging and editing the "Chip" file.

Books and Boards are helpful, "hands on" is possibly the best way to learn tuning.
