I did a TPI conversion on my truck, and it runs fine. I bought a VSS from JTR, and it will not read the vehicle speed in Tunerpro. I tested the VSS on a freq counter, and it shows varying AC voltages and frequencies when spun by a drill. I checked continuity from the VSS connector to C2 and C8 on the ECM plug, and it was good. I am using SAUJP 305 bin I downloaded from the Moates files on this site. Is it possible speed sensor bits are set wrong? I do not know which ones should be set for normal operation. Current configuration:
Bit 0: not set
Bit 1: not set
Bit 2: not set
Bit 3: set
Bit 4: set
Bit 5: not set
Bit 6: not set
Bit 7: set
Thanks for any advice!
Gary

I had this problem once. Try disconnecting the wires from C2 and C8, connect one wire from the VSS to ground, then hook the other to pin to B21. There is a flag for magnetic VSS installed. I can not remember if it needs to be checked or unchecked. Try both, one should work.

We start talking about it a little on the 2nd page here: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?1590-A-few-random-8D-questions&highlight=1227730

Would that be bit 6? They are not too descriptive in Tunerpro, but that is the only one that is identified as MAG.

Not sure what XDF your using, but the one I have says magnetic VSS installed. Looks like the address is 0x18 bit 6

The XDF I'm using is 8d_v03. I changed bit 6 (mag) to set, and it worked! Thanks!!
