I am putting back together a 454 and was planning on a aluminum airgap intake. The choice is because I have it. I also have a port expanded 92 intake which has hot water all through it. I read lots on winter problems without heat. What are your experience? In winter I could run a heater hose under the intake pull intake air by the headers. In the summer pulling a long hill with a trailer a bbc makes lots of heat. It will be using a 454 tbi on a adapter.

TBI likes a heated plenum , not to make power but to allow it to function properly on a day to day basis.

I have tried many single plane intakes with TBI , some were of a isolated plenum design whereas some had the plenum integrated with the valley .

With a single plane Weiand Team G, I had a TBI adapter on top , engine ran the best it ever had , with a cold air intake I experienced icing of the throttle blades on a 50 degree day ........ Removal of the CAI helped some but did not eliminate it .

All that being said , you will make the most power if you can isolate the plenum , if you live in a climate that will allow it I say go for it , unfortunately I live in the northeast , if it's going to be a year round driver here I have to run something non isolated.
