I am new to the forum but far from new with TBI. I like many others have turned to this forum due to my past history of custom tuning from afar and need some direction on either self tuning or find a great tuner to nail down my truck. I started with an 89 Chevy C1500, that I have since pulled my engine and transmission in order to put it in my new project, a 1964 Chevy C10 :rockon:.
A little background on my setup.
I am currently running a fully balanced and blueprinted 383, mid length headers (due to ground clearance issues), a bored 454 TBi unit with flow matched 90lb/hr injectors, adjustable regulator, inline liquid filled fuel pressure gauge. I am running a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, ported Vortec heads with 2.02/1.60 valves. I have a Comp Cams Xtreme energy cam (that I can't find my card for). I am backing this up with a built 700R4.
Problem is I have all but given up on the idea of running this fuel injection setup though this site has gave me a little hope. The previous TBI tuner, that I shall not name but many here seem to have had experience with needless to say after 22 chips it still runs like trash. I have a carb on the shelf that I am tempted to throw on it just to finally reap the benefits of my money and labor. Any help or direction would be appreciated. I really hate to throw in the towel.

There are challenges to tuning a modified TBI engine. The key to successfully tuning a modified TBI engine is understanding the information from a data log, then making the correct changes. Most gearhead-efi.com members use TunerPro RT to data log with. Myself and other gearhead-efi.com members have experience using data logs to tune modified engines using TBI systems.

Before throwing in the towel, post a TunerPro RT data log, (.xdl file) for us to look at.:thumbsup:

Actually found my cam card. It's a Comp Cams 08-305-8. 220 @.050" intake, 230 exhaust. overall .510 lift with a 114 LSA. Not a HUGE cam but is has a nice power band. I still have to source a harness to build. I already have a PCM. Will have to acquire an inline pump to supply adequate fuel for it.. So it's gonna be a min.. But I will definitely post logs and see if someone can point this thing in a better direction, I know it has some untapped potential in there.

Have you considered the option of using the newer ( 2nd Generation # 16197427 ) TBI computer?

The 16197427 computer is 8192 baud speed, 64K PROM, well supported and affordable. The first generation TBI computer is 160 baud speed and 4K PROM. The 16197427 will work with 4L60E / 4L80E / 700R4 transmissions, operate electric fans, and allows for Wide Band O2 sensor information to be in the data log real time.

My choice for a TBI computer for an engine like yours would be the 16197427.

The older TBI harness can be re-pinned to work with the 16197427 TBI computer.

Actually either ECM will run the setup fine, it will just be easier with the 7427. The 299 would also be a decent choice.
