Need some help

So I have decided to take the plunge and give this tuning thing a try. So can any one point me in the right direction to find a definition file for a 1989 Buick Reatta (LN3 3800 engine)? I have looked all over the web (may be not in the right places) with no luck. The one on the TunnerPro site is a dead link. Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK so I am guessing no one has the file I am looking for. So I am wondering if it is possible to create the adx or ads file from scratch or by modifying an other file.

you'll need an adx and an xdf. an ads is an obselete version of an adx.

adx for logging, xdf for tuning.

creating them from scratch might not be the best first plunge into tuning, but it's possible

the definitions on tunerpros site are sketchy at best and you should use the definitions found in the big sticky of gm defintions on this site.

the first thing to deal with when tuning would be to find the correct ECM part number number and mask for your vehicle. a quick search shows that it's an 8253 ECM with $5B2 mask.

if a tunerpro definition isn't available, a tunercat one is, in this case, you may just have to purchase a tunercat license and definition, which is a perfectly good way to go.

i looked a little further, and yeah, i think you're screwed, you'll need to either get tunercat or learn to reverse engineer 68k disassembly and write one yourself.

considering the hundreds of hours of work that goes into disassembly of a new platform and creating an xdf, you'll probably never find a volunteer unless they have the same car.

you'd have to pay someone quite a bit more than the $20 that you'd buy the tunercat definition for.
