Sorry to ask this- I am trying to help a guy by burning a stock bin file into a chip for him. His truck is not here so I cant try anything out really...

When I load the bin into Flash/Burn The Chip Addressing Start Address defaults to 008000 --

I am not yet sure how these 512k chips work in an ECU that expects a 32k chip... are the LSB address bits ignored or something?

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Search on Moates web site for " offsets" and you should find the info you seek. I cant remember off the top of my head which address to start for ur bin but the info is there on the site.

yeah starting from 8000 address fills the 2nd half of the chip so the ecu can load it.if you are worried it may not run on arrival stack the bin twice with tunerpros bin stacker and burn with no offset will fill the whole eprom

if you are worried it may not run on arrival stack the bin twice with tunerpros bin stacker and burn with no offset will fill the whole eprom

done this MANY times without issue.

then i noticed flash and burn(and the module built into tunerpro) will automatically give the correct offsets if you perform operations in a specific order. after that, i quit stacking them without reason to do so.

Motorola puts reset vector at highest address so program must be loaded "top down." Chip addressing is held high with larger eproms. Be sure to wear proper insulating gloves... 32Kv hurts!! ;)

Yeah- I noticed that typo!!! Ha! Makes sense...

I could look it up but does the 27SF512 have more address pins than the original EPROM though?

Yes. A0 - A15 for 27512 vs A0 - A14 for 27256.

Here's a neat little chart :
