Truck is a 2001 Suburban 2500 w 8.1
Had occasional TPS voltage codes, and module communication codes that after much trial and error left me with a bad control module. I deleted the codes and have been using it as is since. Occasionaly at idle I will get a 'stumble' and it recovers. This is when it would throw a voltage code. Everything has been checked 500 different ways.
Below is the style throttle body I have. Also keep in mind this has the firewall mounted Throttle controller. along with the LS1A 512kb ECU

IN 2003 we get the 8.1 with a new throttle body with the controller now built into the TB.

Also the LS1B 1mb ECM.

My question is, due to costs, can I swap out TB's and if so what combination would be best? Thinking the more modern TB and controller will help me out some here. Should I attempt to repin and run controller wires to the TB with old ECM or swap for LS1B ECM and run it as it would be in 2003?

I found this guy saying he got the "Ls2 style" TB to work with a 512 ECM. I think i can just run the TAC module wires to the new TB and it will work. Might be able to track down the connector and plug into the old connector and make an 'extension' so there will be no cutting...

I thought LS1A was 97-98 pcm and LS1B is 99-02 0411 style? Anyway, throttle bodies are not interchangeable.

Interesting, I have read on several sites that they were not interchangeable.

I am just calling the 512kb style 411 or LS1 ecm LS1A and the 1mb 0411 ecm the LS1B.

That guy got it to work ? Looking at diagrams now

Ok i thought the TAC was integrated into the TB. Hmmm.

There is a simple conversion harness that will adapt both tb... it has been done way many times before.

If I inderstand you correctly, you want to use a LS2-style TB in a gen 3 engine.
You will not get reliable operation from a new TB without TAC module in a Gen 3 PCM, they are a different design and use different sensors and controls. I have made them work using adapter boxes but it makes the swap expensive.
Just find a 05-06 TB with a matched TAC and it will work very good. A mechanical TB is a good option if you don't care about cruise control.
