*This is a work in progress*

The 1227749 was used mainly in turbocharged applications, but also in some Quad4 vehicles as well.

The most common applications are the turbo Sunbird GT and the Syclone/Typhoon

Applications:
1987-1990 2.0L OHC PFI Turbo
1987-1988 2.3 DOHC PFI
1991-1993 4.3L V6 PFI Turbo

Updated service number
16198263

This ECM has two injector drivers, and uses both injector drivers in peak and hold mode in the L4 applications, while saturated mode is used in the V6 applications. The wiring is slightly different between these two modes and when using this ECM as a retrofit for other applications attention needs to be paid to this.

Code masks:
$58 (Turbo L4 and V6)

In many cases the bin files from this ECM can also be used in the 1227730 (http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?330-1227730-ECM-information) and 1227727 (http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?332-1227727-ECM-information).

There is also custom code available based on $58. This has been modified to extend the VE and spark tables along with WBO2 closed loop fuel control and logging directly through the datastream. For more information on this code $59, please visit www.code59.org (http://www.code59.org).

There is an early mask for the turbo Sunbird which AFAIK is not supported by anyone. Mask ID is $49. The 87-89 Quad 4 mask is $5C. BCC AMDD from an 89 Quad 4 is unique as it can detect hardware differences between the 1227749 and the 1228707.

There is a known issue when trying to use $58 with an AutoProm, and maybe some other devices. The issue is to do with data logging, it just doesn't happen, and usually garbage data is displayed, if a "connection" is found.

There is a patch that can be done to the $58 bin to rectify this issue. The info I found talks about using a patch utility to add the patch to the bin, I was able to hand edit this using the hex editor in Tuner Pro RT, and work fine.

In my research, many people reported improvments in connecting with other programs and also while not using an AutoProm.

More info here: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/diy-prom/382503-58-aldl-patch-autoprom.html

And here: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?944-Finally-getting-another-Delco-project-done-or-started....

I am attaching the ALDLpatch.zip here. I simply used the Tuner Pro RT HEX editor and at the addresses indicated, changed the values to those shown in the aldlpatch.txt, contained within the zip file.
