I have a friend using a 4.3L 700 (200?) r4 in a Scout. He has original ECM 16143151 that came with the 91 Chevy Blazer four door 4x4, wrecked, he pulled it all out of.

But I can't find it? Is it the same as another ECM number? He wants to buy a harness today!!! Glad he called me first because he may need an ECM change first.

Second question! If this does not have xdf and adx available I would talk him into a 427 type PCM. But can a 427 PCM run a 700r4?

Seems like a C# ECM, similar to a '7747.

I would swap to a '7427.

Yes the '7427 is capable of running with a 700R4. Get one of the expanded XDFs, and it has notes on how to set up $0D for manual or non-electronic automatics.

One of these days i will get around to swapping my '7747 in my truck over to a '7427. The truck has TH350 and I have a pretty good grasp on what I would need to change in the .bin to make it work. The only difference between a TH350 and a 700R4 should be the lockup control. Seems like it should be pretty easy. Let me know if I can help out.

Found it to be same as 1228062 $4E

TH350 can not be hooked up to a 427! Won't work! No wires! :innocent2:

Not to threadjack here, but from what I have read I should be able to treat it just like a 700R4 but without TCC, and hookup the VSS from the T-case.

I did some bench testing a to run a '427 without a VSS. I set the max TPS % for idle table to Zero. Set max MPH for idle table to Zero. I set all the near idle spark advance values to 5 and set all the off idle spark advance values to 20. When I spun the distributor ( 400 ~ 3600 RPM) to create a data log, all the spark readings were 20. The logic was that if the PCM used the near idle spark table, the spark reading would be 5.

I have not idea how to verify the the VE tables were all off idle. It was just a bench test of an idea. I think from my experiment, the '427 could operate without a VSS, but with the loss of near idle tables.

Yeah but your kinda confusing me? Your going to a 427 that does 4l60E tranny, not a 700r4 tranny. But a 427 can do a 700r4 tranny but never came with one. Right? I don't think your going to have any trouble using the 427 auto bin and turning off the trans, but keeping the VSS. I don't know them well enough to say exactly what to do. You have way more time into the 4l60e tranny and I wanted some pointers from you on my first.

You sir are having to much fun!

But I have driven first hand my Scout with TBI conversion without a VSS for a year or so. Then added a VSS and it was truely much better! That was on a 7747. So why try to run without? I know it's $100 and more time but?

Does anyone have xdf for this 16143151 ecm?
