Hello. New guy here from Southern Arizona. I am building a 1970 Blazer with a 454/4l80e/203/doubler/205. Was planning to use TCI's controller for the 4l80e, but, based on its cost, it was suggested that I look into converting the truck to a full TBI setup. Great site here, lots of useful information, and it does look like the total cost of the conversion, using factory parts, is comparable to the TCI controller setup.

I've never heard of TCI so I had to look it up. Looks like a cool unit if it did what it says? But at that price you could have complete GM EFI via DIY along with E trans control. All those adjustments are also available in the chip/bin when you get to tuning.

TCI has been making their standalone trans controller for quite some time....

i'm actually looking to one-up them using a standard 1227730 with no internal or external modifications and control anything up to and including the 6 speed autos.

Thanks for the replies guys, already have the TCI unit for a 4l80e behind a 390 Cadillac with a Tri-power in a '46 Cadillac. Its a nice unit, but definitely pricey. Figured I might try something different on the Blazer and FI never hurts.
