The longer I use TunerPro the more I like it. I keep finding things that just make things easier and easier. So I figured I would start a thread for the one I found today! Then as I remeber others I will add them. Please feel free to add your tips and tricks to this thread as it's a team effort and not a one man show here. :wtg:

Once you have your TP open and bin, XDF and ADX loaded up right click on the top tool bar and you will get a box of tools options. I check them all! But the tip I found today was in the view toolbar called Paremeter Comments. If you hover over a paremeter you can start to read the comment but it goes away and you have to move cursur off then back on, over and over again, I thought there has to be a better way. Go over to the Paremeter tree and click on anything to open it. Once it's open look for a little icon in the toolbar that looks like a paragraph, it's in the view toolbar and click on it. It will display the comments for the Scaler, Flags or Tables paremeter you have open. I haven't figured out yet how to edit or add to these comments but I'm sure it's there! :jfj:

EDIT: Greg pointed out how to edit the comments so I figured I would add it here with the tip.

Right click on the parameter and then click edit XDF parameter. then new window opens with all the info for that parameter.

That's good, now I can add notes to each paremeter. Although most XDF I have are very well comented already.

Yea for the $0E I use I added a table in the parameters that has the addresses layed out with the cooling fan code in the notes. So to add the CFC to any .bin all I have to do is type the code (listed in the comments) into the boxes of the table. Works great. I also have the Variable Intake Tuning flag renamed to Cooling Fan and setup in my TP dash so I can tell if the Fan is on or not.

You can also hover the mouse over the parameter and if there are any comments for that parameter, they will show up in the floating "hover box." Unfortunately that hover box doesn't stay up long, but enough to read the shorter blurbs and see if there actually are any descriptions/information that you can then hit F2 to see in full.

I tried this and all I get is the "min, max, move, restore, close" windoze box.

May have mis-clicked?

Try like in the picture and the tool box will come up like in the picture.

OK, yeah I've seen that. I have to click on the datalog play back slider to access it on my 'puter(s) though, since i have just one line for the tool bar, I only like having what I need in my tool bar. ;)

So here is another tip that I like having setup in TP5. I have 2 dashboards to choose from(more to come), one that is for full screen to use while just driving or datalogging that has everything that a normal person might be interested in seeing at a glance, and a second for on the fly tuning that just has TPS%, MAP%, desired AFR, RPM, MPH, WBO2, Knock retard, BPW, BLM, AE flag, PE flag, O/C Loop flag, and TCC flag, that I keep in the lower third of the screen. That way I can have say the Idle, and off Idle VE tables open above with data trace on, and tune while someone else drives.

Totally customizable!

I tryed to cut and paste the dashboards from the Super $42 1227747 ADX into a $OD but they must have differant conversions cause it didn't work.

I tried uploading a screenshot but it was too big for the forum. I will lookin into how to shrink it and still have the resolution to see it. I think in my project thread is the ADX, it should have the two dashboards in it.

You can try copy and paste this into your .adx right after the first dashboard when veiwed in notepad.

I just copy and pasted into my $0D and it displays right, but I haven't tried it while running.

I just noticed that the 3 squares at the end of the last line did not display, so you may have to copy and paste them form the last line of the original dashboard entry.

I tried to do that from a $42 to a $OD and it didn't work correctlhy.

We need a thread on making ADX files! :jfj:

These ADX files opened in a notpad, or in my case I have edit Pad which is a better choice for webmaster duties when it comes to php and cgi files. Anyway they look easy to learn compared to opening a ads file...

After doing the copy and paste for the dashboard you then need to open the ADX in Tuner Pro, rand set the gauges that aren't correct to what they should be displaying by right clicking on them and selecting the variable that you want it to display.

The reason for this that I can surmise is that different codes have different variables or at least at different locations within the datastream. This means that you have to point that gauge to the proper location again.

I know this is what I did with a couple of mine, to copy from one of my $59 ADXs to $0D.

HAHA, I tired to edit one of my previous post to say just that, and after I had it all typed out and submitted, it told me i could no longer edit it.

I just changed edit time to 10 minutes! that should be enough time to check your post and edit. Ya think?

Where it says "</ADXDASHBOARD>" It should have three squares after it like the original dashboard entry.

We will have to wait for Robert to chime in and give us some rules on making ADX files. The code itself looks easy compared to some others I have looked at, some even said first thing not to edit by hand!

I have lots of experiance in cgi and php for websites and bought an upgraded version of notepad that is made for sytax (code) it does not add extra things like Word or any document writer would, not even a space.

Just opened an ADX in Editpad and there are no little squares! I think those are spaces added when opened in a document writer...

Well if this is true here are the dashboard that a lot of people contributed to when we were having a Super$42 conversation. I wish I remebered who did the dash to give credit because I really like using them!

That actually looks like my old ScannerPro dash before I learned to color the borders to the same as the background to hide them.
I've since updated it for V5.
Another note,
When editing the ADX manually in Notepad, there is an item at the top of the file that should be adjusted as well.

<objectcount>271</objectcount>

This item increments each time an item is added.
Best thing to add Dashboards is to create the blank Dash in TP, then add your items in Notepad. The dashboard also has a counter:
<entrycount>33</entrycount>
Making the dash definition and adding a gauge or two to start with keeps things in proper order.

And for those who crave information overload while reviewing logs...
Increment your "objectCount" at the top of the AXD file by 2
Then ovewrite your "ADXMONITOR" sevtion with this:

There's an option hardly used in TP. Paremeter comments. When ever you have a window open from your bin file there is a button intoolbar and probably a link somewhee that lets you look at what was written about that setting.

Maybe someday we could start improving our ADX files with more paremeter comments?

Maybe someday we could start improving our ADX files with more paremeter comments?Well I went ahead and did this with the $42. I found the newer $42 were blank but some older $42 were heavily commented. I spent hours going through each one and getting the comments all in the newest $42 stuff. Including data tracing.

:jfj:

EDIT: Greg pointed out how to edit the comments so I figured I would add it here with the tip.

i know this is old but you can also just hit F2 and all the info will show up too
