I've seen a couple write ups on changing chips in a Memcal and have used the adapter from Moates.

But I have an old burner and if I had correst UV erase times and correst voltages to burn I am guessing they have been done enough times to do succeccfuly? I have collected a few Memcals...

You can do that, but most people report that they can only program the PROM a couple times before it flakes out, some people report not being able to reprogram them.

It's better to desolder the PROM and replace it with an EEPROM. Overall tuning time will be much less and more reliable.

indeed. in the time it takes to erase one UV PROM, i can remove UVPROM, solder in and flash an EEPROM.

I second the remove the OEM EPROM and install the EEPROM.

Wouldn't you be "thirding" it? lol

Dam I would have figured this was dailed in by now? I know guys that buy 2732 chips with spec sheet and are very reliable. Problem is finding a batch... with the spec sheet...

OK, I'll start soldering...
