View Full Version : 90 chevy 4x4 donor for 76

i just bought my donor truck for my 76 scottsdale 4x4 project its a 90 chevy 4x4 my question is the ac on the donor works really well how do i go about switching it over to the 76 originally the 76 had ac is it possible or no ? ( the tbi motor and harness is all going in the 76) thanks for all advice

They are both R12 so will work, just have to get old lines on new compressor. Even then the R12 cost will kill the deal... AC is very paticular to clean, dry, proper oiled and amount of freon added. In the end you'd be better off with new compressor, oil, etc... R134.

Oil is differant in R12 to R134a and not compatible with ech other!

That said and suposedly illeagal in US but used in europe... my 90 Subrban R12 system still works great on evioro something repalcemnt? It's LPG/Propane...

also what transfercase can i get for the 700r4 that will put the front driveshaft on the pass side and i read something about an adapter possibly ?

so more trouble than its worth ?Big project to make AC work and last. No cheap way out or shortcuts will work. R12 is expensive and need license to buy, install, sell... = $ if you can find someone to do it.
