What is the proper ADX definition for a 1994 GMC C6000 Topkick C6H042 6.0 L V-8 Gas 225 gross HP 366 cu. in. engine?

TBI, but no I don't know what the ECM is.

If it has a 4L80E it's probably gonna be $0E.

1994 LS0 engine uses 16147525 with or without governor. If you read a cal we can determine the mask but chances are there's no def file in the light truck world that works.

I don't remember any 366/6.0L HD engines in ALDL file list...

A137 looks appropriate.

Apologies... thought you were asking for mask / XDF definition.

This weekend I had the opportunity to work on one of these trucks, 1993 C6000. I though I'd share my experience. The 366 was replaced with a 454. I've attached the .bin file I read from the 16147525 ECM. I've also attached the .xdf and .adx for the 16147525. Maybe someone in the future will find this tread and this information will help.

That 366 is a BBC and its larger cousin in the 7.2 427 BBC. These are tall deck engines IIRC, asthey have the extra oil comntrol riing. They were dropped in 1998 for the L21 454 which is a Vortec 454 with a 24x relcutor crank signal/CNP ignition and ETC using the Vette ECM. Pretty much an overgrown LS1.
Prelude to the GEN 7 8.1 BBC.

dave, i know this thread is 5 years old but i currently have one of these old uhaul trucks that i put a new gm 488 engine in . i could use some help on a tune for it. i currently am using the stock bdfz.bin file. i have turnercat software and have soldered in the new chip base. the issue i have right now is idle hunting and excessive rpm at idle(1000 to 1100 )set on 850 by chip
. currently using 54 psi fuel pressure with 4degrees of timing.truck seams to run fine with that pressure but doesnt idle good and has a little backfiring issue too. i am a good mechanic but electronic stuff is still ahead of me.

I'm wondering if you changed the Base Pulse Width (BPW) Constant to correct for the new GM 488 (8.0 Liter) engine displacement? That attached .zip file has a BPW calculator for Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI).

If the fuel injection system is still the ORIGINAL TBI system the BPW needs to be updated (reprogrammed into the chip) for the new larger 8.0 Liter engine displacement.

To use the BPW calculator, you need to know the displacement and injector flow. We know the displacement of the new engine, 8.0 liters. Here is a link to find the information on injector flow: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?81-GM-TBI-Injector-size-color-and-part-numbers

thanks dave. the calculation say to use bpw of 161. if i use that number can i return my fuel pressure to 32.at 54 now with bpw of 128.

Do you have Throttle Body Fuel Injection? Most all Throttle Body Fuel Injection systems use a fuel pressure of about 13 PSI, with the exception of some 94 - 95 7.4 liter engines that are about 28 PSI.

Yes mine is 28 to 32 psi with the original 366

My plan would be to use the stock fuel pressure with the calculated BPW, and "Tune" the chip using TunerPro RT data logs. The attached TunerPro RT screen shots are from a 1227747 ECM not the 16147525. The tuning basics are the same for both the 16147525 and 1227747. Unfortunately the TunerPro RT .adx file for the 16147525 is not has developed as the .adx for the 1227747, so considerable homework is required to get the same looking screen shots from the 16147525 .adx file. The .adx file for the 16147525 is adequate for "Tuning" the 488 engine conversion.

Once you post a data log from the 16147525, myself and other members can offer suggestions for "Tuning" the 488 engine conversion. Without a data log, the suggestions are mostly guessing what is needed to "Tune" the 488 engine conversion.

dave, how do you know the maximun you can raise base pulse width constant to. is ther a forumla to convert bpwc to millseconds.

If possible, keeping the injector BPW close to the original value is best. I would consider using an injector with a higher flow rate to keep the BPW near the original value. Injector offsets and injector parameters are very important. I would closely compare the higher flow injector parameter with the original injector parameters.

For example, you might be able to use 305 injectors at 35psi to keep the BPW close to the original value. I STRONGLY recommend flow testing 305 injectors at 25, 30, 35, & 40 PSI to see which pressure is best for keeping the BPW near the original value.

I don't know of a formula that would convert BPWC to Milliseconds.

The big trucks and some full size vans use TBI injectors resembling what come in a Holley TBI similar to the front wheel drive TBI cars with a single barrel TBI.

Here is the problem I have . I have standard products tj32 injectors and can’t find any info on flow rating or and Info on bigger injectors to fit my throttle body. Not sure if the old style 2 prong injectors will fit in my tbi unit. I would change the whole tbi but mine has a governer attached

wonder if anybody has put the holley 522-43 injectors in the gm throttle body? there both gm maxi style injectors.

My understanding is that they don't fit the GM injector pod. You'll need to install the injectors in a Holley pod. Might take some fiddling to make the Holley pod fit on a GM throttle body. I've done GM pod on Holley TB and it needed some fiddling.

Have you actually tried it. I checked the dimensions on mine and they appear to be the same as Holley ones.

Never mind...I'm thinking of something totally different!

Thanks for your time and response. Before I bought two new injectors I was hoping someone else had already did it. I see u can get pods too so if the Holley injectors don’t fit I can get the Holley pod. If u got the gm pod to fit a Holley base I hope I can do the opposite. Thanks again

Hi, I have a 93 gmc topkick 366 6.0. I'm working on converting mine into an RV. I was wondering if you know what I can use to do some data logging with this engine. What software can I use. I'm not interested in tuning at this this point, just data logging to sort out some knock sensor and other trouble codes. any suggestions would be great! thank you, Dan

Dan, I got a lot of stuff I can talk to you about but I rather do it by phone. i believe i can help you with what u need. i currently have the computer, burn software, and a tbi with new gm factory injectors installed. i installed a 8.0 litre motor in mine 2 years ago. i also changed the gear ratio to 4.88 for better highway speed. you probably have 5.66 rear if you have a old uhaul truck. i also know that the holley injectors will work in the gm tbi but the computer wont run them. they pull more current and the computer can handle. i have two new ones that i tried. you would have to have the holley electrical sytem to use them. if you like to speak with me email me at kingmac@crosslink.net with your phone number. i be glad to help with knowledge and parts that i dont use anymore.
