hey all,

tonight i opened a drawer in the basement of my house, and i found a dusty uv prom i had totally forgotten about.

it came from somewhere really special

while i was really down on my luck and making bad decisions trying to survive in the city, and could barely afford a car, let alone an eeprom programmer, i was trying to hack away on this old laptop i got for free, to make this old crappy flat black brush painted camaro with a botched 305 tbi engine swap i got for $1500....run alright.

had the bin, hacked my own xdf together, took a TON of time, but no chips, no programmer, no money, and any stray money i had was totally earmarked for food, booze, or my girl.

eaglemark being the guy he is said hey, send me the file, i'll see what i can do, and he mailed me the chips all the way to canada.

my trims went from crap to perfect and i gained what felt like a billion horsepower

the favor wasn't the chips, really, at all. that wasn't a huge thing for a guy like him. it was nice of him but it probably set him back 10 bucks.

the favor was that i had somehow had learned enough from this awesome place (which continues to stand the test of time) to not only know how to reverse engineer and create my own definition, but know EXACTLY what to do to clean up my VE table and timing table on the first try, even with no narrowband or anything working on the car.

i realized today seeing that old chip laying about that it has been *** eight and a half years since eaglemark has left us **

in the time he has left us my entire life has changed for the better, and sadly until tonight i hadn't given much thought to him, even when browsing this forum to see what's going on, but seeing that old chip really reminded me of the guy that helped open this part of my mind up. it hit me in the gut really hard and i felt like sharing with you all.

i know a lot of the new faces around here never knew eaglemark, the founder of this hallowed place, but those who did, and have moved on and are doing their own thing, please take a moment to send good vibrations to him or have a toast to his name, wherever he is, and to his family.

Hi Steveo,
Your post brought back a flood of fond memories I have of eaglemark. I very much miss the collaboration we shared about EFI. I'm very fortunate to have been one of his personal friends too.

Thank you for the post!

Sorry for not getting to know him, but still grateful to him for what he left for us.

I was lurking for a couple years here before i joined, and I didn't realize he had passed until quite sometime after I joined. I remember reading about him messing around with the bin on his wife's car, lol, and being a really genuine guy that wanted to help others. I wish I could have known him. Even though I never did, i was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
