Hi people,
I am from Australia. I bought a 1987 C4 Corvette a few years ago that quickly went pair shaped :-( I have rebuilt the auto and I am currently working on the engine. I work as a Biomedical Engineer maintaining linear accelerators. I am currently trying to get the ECM which is a 1227165 sorted for a bit less errors without the air pump and egr system on the engine.
Cheers Greg

Hello Greg. It's nice to see folks are still interested in older EFI systems. One highly recommended modification over here is to use 1989 Corvette code ($6E) in 86-88 cars. 1989 is the last year for the 1227165 and GM's last effort seems to be the best. There are a few changes needed to run later code so be sure to do a little research before dropping the code in.

isn't there some highly modified Aussie hack that will run on the '165? I think '808?

Yes, the basic computer is the same so the code will work. But the '808 did not have the chips to communicate at high speed. The cool thing is that there is a bunch of support for '808/ You can get high speed communication boards, USB port add-ins, and highly modified code to support it.

I believe 12P is the code most folks use with high speed coms. It may work fine in a Vette but I'd want to do research first.
