Afternoon guys, Seeing Moates has shut down and it sounds like quality chips are getting hard to purchase. I was thinking of buying 1 or 2 spares chips.

I really know nothing about them, I have a 95 Chevy truck with the 7427 ECM, being a 95 the ECM controls the trans, so using a EBL from Dynamitic is not and option.

Looking thru the internet I found these chips for a Honda, I think these are the same for the GM ECM, are these interchangeable? also I have heard of a lot of junk ones being bought on eBay, so looking to buy more quality source.

If you have a way of programming them, then I believe you can use 27c512 chips also. I'm going to verify that they are interchangeable later. If so, I have quite a few of them that are the old name brand ceramic types that I can erase and program for you if you'd like for way less than what they want per chip.

Let me know if you'd be interested because I have no plans on using all these chips I have.

There are many options for chips and chip programmers.

Perhaps this Amazon package, UV Eraser and Programmer is something to consider: https://www.amazon.com/PRG-109-GQ-4X-GQ-4X4-programmer-Eraser/dp/B0121980T0/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=eprom+uv+eraser&qid=1673572830&sr=8-9&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.f5122f16-c3e8-4386-bf32-63e904010ad0

I use a BX32P to program chips. https://www.newark.com/batronix/bx32p-barlino/programmer-bx32p-barlino-ii/dp/53M6869?gclid=Cj0KCQiA_P6dBhD1ARIsAAGI7HAMySh3v0IW m0Du2v6HdwEn68xoYdW-9Hq0apUnaxVMfYnWF_GvsxMaAmYqEALw_wcB&mckv=_dc|pcrid||plid||kword||match||slid||product| 53M6869|pgrid||ptaid||&CMP=KNC-GUSA-PMAX-Shopping-High-ROAS

I use LER121A UV Eraser (now obsolete) https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/xeltek-inc/LER121A-110V/2043526

Check with Tunercat. I bought some extra flashable 512 chips when I heard that Moates had shut down. $10 each. I also bought a couple of the Moates G1 adapters ($35) and a G4 adapter ($45). I needed the G4 adapter to install the flashable chip in a 95 3800 PCM. This has a removable short memcal where the back-up circuitlry is piggybacked over the prom. I'm not sure that prom can be UV erased. If it can one would have to remove the back-up circuitry which would be a PITA.

They seem to be taking up where Moates left off.

Thanks guys for all the links, now to decide what to do, I might be the amazon kit and then some chips.

Overall I am not looking to be a tuner, I have one project that sometime in future,(I hope soon) I will be doing an engine swap/up grade, so once installed and tuned. I don't plan on doing any more tuning.

So the big question is buy a kit or just connect with a tuner, once I have wide band O2 sensor data logs.

Seems expensive to be messing around with UV chips, just make the switch to EEPROM and grab a new burner that boostednw.com is coming out with, I am getting whatever I can to try and support because it seems they are trying to fill gaps for what everyone needs, so IMO the more support to them, the more they can support us
