I have changed a couple of things with the setup, not much. Used to log 13 and 36. Deleted all of the other codes unrelated to tuning. Now just 36. when this happens it is kind of random. Could be pulling off at the stop sign or even when launching the car. Sometimes cruising but never at a speed over 35 MPH. I would Suspect that it is due to one of the changes that I have made to the spark tables . AFR's are 12.1 and it pulls ok I guess. Anyways the car shuts off and turns back on while I am driving and that is unacceptable.

DTC 36 - Distributor Ignition System (Faulty High Res. or Extra Low Res. Pulse Detected)
Have you had your distributor cap off and checked bearing, optical sensor mounting?
I would check wiring also.

Hopefully someone else will know better.

the opti is dying, or maybe a small chance of severe misfire or a deteriorated opti harness.

no tuning issue would cause this because you have no control over that sensor, it only monitors engine position

The optispark was new when the engine was built. I looked back into the spark table and see 2 cells 50 kpa at 600 and 800 that are 15 degrees the ones before are 32 and the ones after are 27 that doesn't seem right. This opti litterally only has maybe 1500 miles on it but it sat a good while before I bought it and got it running.

Commanded spark advance has no effect on the sensor, as Steve stated it only measures engine position.
New doesn't always mean good, old doesn't always mean bad.

Check 'em.
Smooth out that spot on the table toward 29.5°.

I concur with “new doesn’t always mean good.” If it was anything other than a Petris Enterprises, an Optidpc rebuild, or a personally refurbished original GM then it’s almost certainly garbage. I can’t even begin to tell you the number of times people showed up to the Corvette forums complaining of these sorts of symptoms but denying the opti only to find out their new parts store special or Summit or MSD was total trash.

I also concur, another presumption I was presented was due to the MSD coil that was installed on the car. I have the stock coil but also have not swapped that out either. Could very well be wiring related, I found some damaged wiring on the car. A lot. -40 IAT Hmmmm Unplugged it and there were no guts in the sensor.

every single wire and sensor on a car of this age is in questionable condition and needs to be inspected

even 10 years ago every lt1 engine harness i took apart was disintegrating somewhere

might as well rebuild it now

I hear ya there... The whole "Runs good when it wants to" thing needs to go out the window. I am not going to 0411 swap this one either. Its going to be some time and money rewiring this whole thing. I'm sure I will find a fix. The wiring on this thing was atrocious from the beginning.
