Lately I have been having a hard time getting verification to succeed when burning a chip.
Tried different computers, USB cords, ECT

Some times I read chip to buffer, verify chip with buffer, .... And IT FAILS!

Sometimes erase chip doesn't work, blank check returns, chip is not blank. Erase again and it is blank?

Is my equipment wearing out? Only had the stuff since the end of 2019.

Was under the impression that the burner was sort of a long term investment.

Anybody run across this before?

Ever have a chip wear out?

I'm using the same two sst chips I bought from moats when I ot the BURN2.
They have been written and erased a lot of times in the past couple years, but how many times can you write a chip?

I seem to remember someone else had issues with their Burn2. They wound up contacting Moates and had to update the firmware or something like that to get it working properly again.

Thanks, I am trying to look through the write up on moats for just that!

I screwed both of my chips up with a non working write, and need to get a good bin wrote, as the truck needs to drive 2k miles tomorrow

Updated firmware, now when I plug the burner in, I get the little blue light on the burner on constantly, and flash and burn says error check connectivity firmware

Rolled back to version 5.14 and I got the same issue as before.

Upon looking for the phone number, I came across a troubleshooting page on moates site, about verification failed.
I swear I have been all over their site and never seen that before, but
It stated that the ziff is not soldered in, but firm press fit, and can unseat and still feel firm .
Set on firm surface and press both ends of ziff firmly.
I did and was able to verify.
I had accidentally messed my bin up somehow though by clicking save buffer to file I think when I had a bad write on it.
Good thing I always save as, I was able to burn a bin I had from a couple months ago and not get limp mode.

What a relief.

I'd call Moates
