Hi guys. This is my first LS swap and trying to do it all on my own. Eventually, I'll get a professional tune but for now, I just want to see if I can make the swap and get it running. I've started with a LQ4 out of a 2001 2500 2WD. I have the enginer rebuilt and the complete harness and PCM (411 12202088). I've got TunerPro and LSDroid and done enough research to delete VATs and turn off O2 errors. What I don't understand, is how to change the transmission. The original truck has a 4L80E and I have a 4L60E. It seems like there is a way for me to find an XDF from a vehicle that had a 4L60 and copy/paste (segment swap) into my original BIN. Is that right? Could I get some guidance on how to do that? I can't seem to find a walk through. Thanks

I believe that both transmisions use the same xdf for any given OS. In order to segment swap you need two bins with the same OS, your original, and one with the features you want to swap. Here is a write up of how to do it with a hex editor. http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?3677-Segment-Swaps
Here is a link to a utility i Found on pcm hacking https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=6642&sid=dc31c10aed782f1bcbb13273657fee00

CAREFULL. I have not used either! There is the possibility to brick you PCM! Make sure you understand how before you do it. I use HP for obd 2 so I don't have experience with the open source tools yet. If your engine is stock, and you haven't tuned it yet, you may be better of just starting with a 4l60 bin.

Hope that helps

Thanks for that suggestion. Could you suggest what bin has a 4l60e that would be compatible with my 2001 LQ4?

Post 34 on this page is the only 6.0 4l60 bin I was able to find. Someone might have one thats not posted.
Description says it's for DBW AWD. On another note, some one else posted they used the segment swap utility with success, so if you can't find a close enough bin segment swapping could still be best option? Just make sure you understand the process completely before you try it.

This page has a couple lq4 automatic bins, but doesn't say if 60 or 80e, if from a hlf ton 1500 probably 60e

Anyone willing to check my work? This file started as 2001 2500 2WD LQ4 4L80E. Using Hex editor and TunerPro, I removed VATs, Deleted O2 warnings, and changed to 4L60E.

when you saved your file, tuner pro should have made a text file with your changes on it. If you can find in, paste it here, and your original bin

Here are some notes Made looking through the bin
4l60 with transmission mounted PRNDL
Tq mnt Enabled 4l60 good idea
Cat Protection enabled if rear 02's deleted, is the CATs deleted?

Thanks Ralmo! Your list is showing me how little I know about what I'm doing. I did go back and disable EGR and enable trans protection. Those are pretty straight forward for me. The rest I will have to do some research on. Thanks for your feedback
