Is there an easy way to change a HPT file to a BIN file?

The easiest way I'm aware of is to write the HPT file into an ECM then read it with different software. I'm told HPT uses an encryption method when the files are saved and that decryption without the right tool is difficult.

Could I use LSDroid to load and then read it back?

I have pulled an HPT file from my first PCM and saved it as a BIN. LS Droid or PCM Hammer, it did not matter. I did not try to open and edit it but I'm now curious if that would or would not work.

EDIT: Now I remember why that won't work in my case. The underlying OS basis of the tune in my HPT-built PCM is not an OS that has a matching XDF for Tuner Pro RT. But if it had a matching XDF, I'm hopeful that it would work.

Yes, reading from the pcm with another program will work. The file has to be written into the pcm in binary format. Reading the file with different software would allow you to save it in a different format.

As was mentioned, there's no guarantee that there is a definition file available for the HPT file. But getting it saved in a format that can be read by other software is the first step.

I have the HPT file itself. Can I use LSDroid to load it on my dummy ecm?
I tried it with LS Droid and found that the file wasn’t compatible.

Not compatible for reading it or not compatible for editing it after successfully reading it?

Geez people. He has a .hpt file. Not a .bin file. Not a .bin file he read from a box that was tuned with HP Tuners. No you can not flash or edit a .hpt file with anything but HP Tuners software or their cable and the proper licenses.
