So I had this idea while programming efans on my 04 gmc sierra 1500 I noticed that under one of the menus there was a option for pto on a truck that never would come with it. So my question is if I enable it would I have the option to idle the truck up and down from the cruise control switch or and I just thinking crazy

PTO has been an option in many GM computers. I have not had the luxury of seeing a calibration of it used. I have had to make it happen as well as the option to do "enhanced load" by request signal.

This is similar as AC request which decides IAC count and/or fueling thereof.

The GM 'puters are seconded to none, the later years the better.

Keep in mind, you are dealing with freeware and even paid for stuff doesn't have it all. :)

I always wonder what that PTO stands for and how it works. I have some tables for it that can be enabled, but have no idea what to look for.

PTO is power take off.
It is used for outside devises such as driving a generator or water pump or whatever. Hence when a stable higher rpm is desired.

I use it in off road race vehicles so if desired they can actually weld using the alternator when needed.
